Susanna Lea, MS, LAc

Susanna Lea is a licensed practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in North Carolina. She is nationally certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology.

Susanna studied Classical Chinese Medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC, under Jeffrey Yuen, and received her master’s degree in Classical Chinese Medicine. Her training included acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, nutritional therapy, Tui Na (Chinese medical massage), stone medicine, Qi Gong, and the therapeutic use of essential oils. As a student intern, Susanna completed over 860 hours of clinical practice and treated more than 400 patients. Since her graduation in May, 2016, Susanna has gained even more experience treating a variety of conditions including pain, circulation issues, anxiety and stress, fatigue, digestive disturbance, and a broad spectrum of chronic health issues.

A Chapel Hill native, Susanna moved back to Chapel Hill from Asheville in May, 2017 to undertake the incredible opportunity to apprentice with Dr. Li Lin, benefitting enormously from Dr. Lin’s invaluable knowledge and skill in diagnosis of symptoms and conditions, structural analysis and adjustment, herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, and needling technique, among many others.

While in school at Daoist Traditions, Susanna served as the Executive Director of Traditions Acupuncture Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Chinese medical care to the underserved of Western North Carolina. She created and organized a weekly free acupuncture clinic for the residents of Hill Crest, a low- and fixed-income housing community in Asheville. After graduation, Susanna spent a time at the Standing Rock reservation in North Dakota providing acupuncture and herbal medicine care. Currently, she is a volunteer at the Acu-Detox program at CAARE in Durham.

Susanna believes passionately in the enormous versatility of Chinese medicine and the depth of healing that each person can achieve.
