Q: I have multiple issues including migraines, PMS, IBS, and plantar fasciitis. Can these be addressed all at once or do you concentrate on one area at a time?
A: At your first visit, we will review the chief complaint(s) in detail and will also do a whole-person evaluation, which is used to help in the diagnosis. Traditional Chinese Medicine nurtures the well-being of the whole person, respecting physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Wewill address multiple issues at once, when these issues originate from the same root cause. More times than not, multiple issues end up being treated at once. It is also common for patients to report side benefits in addition to the improvement of their chief complaint.
Q: Will I experience improvement right away or does it take several weeks before I notice a benefit from acupuncture?
A: There is a spectrum of response. For pain management, most patients experience improvement within one to three treatments, but there are many variables that factor into response time, including the severity of the condition and the underlying cause of condition.
Q: How do I know whether my condition needs acupuncture or herbs or both?
A: On your first visit we will do a full evaluation and recommend a treatment plan, which may be acupuncture only, herbs only, or a combination of both. For example, if you have acute knee pain, acupuncture only; if you have the flu or a cold, herbal medicine is enough to help you recover fast (occasionally upon patients' request, we uses acupuncture for immediate symptom relief for flu/cold.); for infertility, the combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine is recommended.
Q: How often should I come for acupuncture treatment?
A: Before answering this question, we would like to give you some examples of acupuncture treatments.

So, Patient B had 3 consecutive acupuncture sessions in 3 days, which resulted in 75% of pain relief. She had her 4th and 5th session in the following two weeks (a week apart). After 5 sessions, her elbows were entirely pain-free.
- Patient C wanted help with infertility. She was given acupuncture once a week to regulate her cycles. After 5 sessions, she was pregnant. At this point, now that she was pregnant, she was told that she could choose either to stop acupuncture sessions altogether or continue with weekly acupuncture sessions as an excellent form of prenatal care.
